A woman-hating writer rescues a young woman lying injured on the road. When she regains consciousness, she insists that she is his wife. His uncle and the family doctor persuade him to humor her until they find a solution to the problem. In the process, he falls in love with her and calls her Anamika (girl without a name). But as unexpectedly as she had come into his life, just as unexpectedly, she vanishes one night. He is despondent. Then one night at a party, he meets her again, but she refuses to recognize him.

Sanjeev Kumar a woman-hating writer lands in a fix when he rescues a strange female lying injured on the road. When the girl Jaya Bhaduri regains consciousness she insists that she is his wife. The family doctor and his father ask him to humor the poor girl till they find a solution to the problem. Sanjeev Kumar however falls to the charms of Jaya. But then as suddenly as she had come into his life, she disappears. A distraught Sanjeev searches for her but in vain. Then one day at a party organized by his publisher he meets Jaya Bhaduri again but this time she refuses to recognize him watch the mystery unfold in Ananmika
